Osteopractic Physical Therapy

What do you mean?

Osteopractic is a term developed by the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy (AAMT). This term means "bone-practitioner." However, what Osteopractic encompasses is a speciality not a generalist.

  • Physical therapists who graduate from an accreditaded school are generalists, which means they can work in all types of settings - hospitals, in-patient, out-patient, and the home.
  • Specialization comes from advanced training in manual therapy, orthopedics, and course work.

A Fellowship program in physical therapy progresses knowledge, skills, and practical abilities to the next level. With graduation from a Fellowship program, a PT aquires the designation of FAAOMPT, which means Fellow - American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists.

A Fellowship requires:

  • In-person and online coursework - 14 courses
  • Publishable research
  • 400+ hours of mentorship
  • Written, oral, and practical examinations.

There are a lot of certifcations in the health domain that offer additional education, but most certifcations are based solely on a weekend course, maybe a written test with no practical application, and no hands-on with real patients.

At The SHOP, we are: Driven by Goals. Powered by Care. Come join us in Springfield, MO and see the difference.
