Dry Needling is not new. It has been around since the 1940's! (1) Often compared to Acupuncture, dry needling is vastly different in application and technique. Both Acupuncture and Dry Needling share one thing in common, the needle.
- Acupuncture is focused on Chinese Medical principles - chi and meridians, yin and yang, and solutions to all medical and health issues.
- Dry Needling morphed into trigger point dry needling in the late 1990's and 2000's (1).
- Trigger point dry needling attempts to "activate" the trigger point through movement of the needle.
Our dry needling is focused not just on trigger points, but on treating muscles, ligaments, tendons, peri-articular (joint) and peri-nerual (nerves) through semi-standardized protocols developed by American Academy of Manipulative Therapy's Dry Needling Institute (2).
